Cultivated in East Asia for thousands of years, Soybeans are an important part of the traditional diets in China, Japan, and Korea. They can either be eaten fresh from the pod or dried. Young soybean is green colour and known as edamame. Dried Soybeans are often light tan or pale yellow in colour but can also be found in black, brown and blue.

Organic soybean flour is made by grinding roasted organic soybeans. Depending on how it is processed, the taste of Soybean flour can vary from a beany to a sweet and mild flavour. It is a versatile ingredient, improving the taste and texture of many common foods and reducing the fat absorbed in fried foods. It can be added to baked goods, boosting their protein content and helping them retain moisture. Soybean flour is also the key ingredient in soy milk and many textured vegetable protein products for example tofu.
