Shikakai is a traditional Indian hair care product and an attractive natural alternative to chemical shampoos. In English, shikakai translates into "fruit for hair".

Organic shikakai powder is made from powdered acacia concinna and can be used as a natural hair cleanser. Shikakai cleans the hair well and produces a thick lather.

However, using shikakai can make the hair dry; therefore, it is advisable to oil the hair overnight or for a few hours before using it. Whether shikakai suits a person's hair or not depends on the individual properties of an individual's hair.

How to use

Make a paste of shikakai, apply all over scalp and hair, massage to form a slight lather, keep for a few minutes and rinse off.

Or;

Make a decoction of shikakai by boiling a few large tablespoons in a liter of water until water reduces to half. Strain out the shikakai using a sieve or piece of cloth, use the decoction all over scalp and the entire length of hair, massage, leave on for a few minutes and then rinse off.
