Coriander powder is also called Dhaniya powder in India and is made from grounding coriander seeds. It is an essential condiment in the Indian cuisine.
The coriander plant produces both a spice (i.e. coriander seeds) and a herb (i.e., coriander leaves or cilantro). It is native to the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean regions and has been grown in Asian countries for thousands of years.
It is identified as cilantro in the West. Coriander seeds are most commonly used in chilli and curry dishes. It is even used in brewing certain styles of beer, particularly Belgian wheat beer, and in some pickling recipes.
